About
I'm Sharvil — a backend engineering lead and engineering manager building reliable product infrastructure.
For 8 years at Pray.com I've built and operated production backend systems across APIs, notifications, payments, experimentation, recommendations, and event-driven infrastructure.
What I do
I lead backend engineering for core product systems and the team that builds them — owning reliability, architecture, and the long-term health of the services behind the mobile apps and the web.
Technical focus
My strongest work sits at the intersection of backend architecture, production reliability, and engineering quality. I care about systems that are simple enough to maintain, scalable enough to grow, observable enough to debug, and owned clearly enough that teams can move fast without chaos.
Day to day that's Node.js and TypeScript on AWS — across serverless and containerized services — with MySQL, Redis, DynamoDB, Kinesis, and SNS.
Engineering values
I believe healthy systems come from healthy habits: small reviewable PRs, clear ownership, strong code review, production discipline, and senior engineers modeling the standards they expect from everyone else.
Outside work
Outside of work I train and stay active, keep learning about backend architecture and engineering leadership, and write notes on building better systems and teams.
